Attention Dial-up/Narrowband Users,

Thanks to all the feedback from our narrowband users, we have resolved many of the reported issues.

We are pleased to announce that an upgraded version of the narrowband AOL Radio powered by CBS player has been released. These improvements will provide a better Dial-Up/Narrowband user experience .

The old AOL Radio narrowband players are not available.

If you access the old player, you are automatically re-directed to www.aolradio.com.

When you click on the "Listen Now" button , the new upgraded narrowband player will automatically launch.

If you are listening to the upgraded AOL CBS dial-up/narrowband player please note that:

1) The player will take a few minutes to load so be patient.

TIP: To speed up and improve your radio experience, we recommend that you use an external web browser - such as Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari.

2) When you launch the AOL CBS narrowband player, you must go into the "Settings" tab (at the bottom of the player) and set your preferred connection speed to "Narrowband". You will only have to do this once.

TIP: It is recommended that you upgrade to the very latest version of Flash at this link: http://www.adobe.com/go/gntray_dl_getflashplayer. Users with older versions of Flash may have trouble saving their settings to "Narrowband" in the future.

Mute Button Issue - Fixed

AOL Radio listeners,

Previously I wrote on this blog that there was an issue with the Mute button where after hitting "Mute" on your player, you had to unmute by adjust the volume slider.

We installed a fix today that corrects this issue. You can now "Mute" and "Unmute" as expected by clicking on the sound icon on the player.

Mute Button - Bug

AOL Radio listeners,

The AOL Radio player mute button is not working properly.

After hitting "Mute," the player will not unmute when you hit the "Mute" again.

To unmute, move the volume slider to a different position.

We're working to resolve this issue and will update you when it's fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Bourbon and Bluegrass at the Southgate House

American history is festooned with tales of haunted buildings, from the Amityville home to the House of the Rising Sun. At places like these, ghosts stalk the halls, mysterious sounds emanate from the floorboards, and lights turn on and off without provocation. Kentucky's Southgate House is one of these spirit-inhabited buildings, but this 19th century mansion is different in one key way: they have three performance rooms, and live music every night of the week.

In part one, we hear the legends of bourbon and bluegrass surrounding the mansion, from its famous guests (Abraham Lincoln) to the luminaries who were born within its walls (the inventor of the Tommy Gun). Part two gets into the ghost stories and the other types of music that fill its parlor rooms, from funk and rock to avant-garde music.

Gypsy Jazz In All Its Splendor, with Vic Wong

There is a wealth mythology and mystery surrounding the legacy of Django Reinhardt. He was a brilliant gypsy guitarist with a mangled hand, who turned his injury into a way of achieving a unique style of voicing and playing. This week's guests, led by Pandora engineer Vic Wong (pictured at left), dissect the sounds that Reinhardt and his confederates created in 1930s Paris. These sounds were a response to the American "hot jazz" records that Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli and others were hearing, falling in love with, and using as launching-off points for their own creations. Reinhardt's journey made for a fascinating musical movement, and it's most commonly referred to these days as Gypsy Jazz.
